Important Issues

The Australian people must make some fundamentally important decisions. Do we unite behind a public policy road map for a sustainable Australia or do we continue down the road towards authoritarian neoliberalism? Do we continue the growing gap between the very rich and everyone else, or do we fight for an economic agenda that creates jobs for everyone who wants to work, raises wages, protects the environment and provides universal health care and education for all? Are we prepared to take on the enormous economic and political power of the entitled class, or do we continue to slide into economic and political oligarchy? These are the most important questions of our time, and how we answer them will determine the future of our country.

The RepresentUs - Australia - Movement is committed to providing real solutions for the big problems we all face in our society and across our communities. For this to happen we need to commit to an evidence based and empowered, but responsible democratic approach towards both developing and implementing policy solutions.

This will help you understand what the RepresentUs - Australia - Movement stands for.

These policy positions provide a clear public policy roadmap to a sustainable Australia, however, they are very deliberately not fully completed policies. Our policies continue to be developed over time by RepresentUs - Australia - Movement members and Australian constituents through our constituent engagement program, (and policy platform), which provides a vehicle for information, feedback and direct input, from every community impacted by policies. This process will be supported by Independent Community Representatives, (who in collaboration with other RepresentUs - Australia - Movement members and constituents), represent the diverse perspectives necessary for our democracy to flourish in a dynamic matter.

At the end of the day, this is the way our democracy is meant to be working.

Unity Through Including Not Excluding

As an inclusive political movement based on unity and community, the RepresentUs - Australia - Movement recognises the importance of including the views of all major positive ideologies in our policy development process. We believe in an inclusive political philosophy, however, this does not include any ideology or belief that is informed by bigotry, divisiveness or hate speech. 

As long as the RepresentUs - Australia - Movement's principles and important facts inform the starting point in all policy formulation and implementation we welcome all reasonable perspectives to engage in our democratic policy development process and our movement. The RepresentUs - Australia - Movement is about providing a space where all members - and all constituents - are encouraged to express diverse viewpoints, because we know through this diversity good public policy is far more likely to happen.

The RepresentUs - Australia - Movement aims to be a microcosm of the best aspects of open and democratic society and to this end we have supplied in this website:

• a clear and evidence based economic rationale for how we can fund all of our policy positions in our economy here
• a framework that supports re-establishing Australia as the nation of the fair go, which is underpinned by a commitment to civil liberties, social justice and the human rights necessary for our open society
• a public policy roadmap which defines a sustainable vision for our families, our communities and our nation
