Australian's used to enjoy universal health care and some enjoyed free dental services. The RepresentUs - Australia - Movement knows that there is absolutely no fiscal reason why our Common Wealth government cannot provide universally free health and dental services again.
We reject the neoliberal ideological mythology that forces people into being able to receive quality health and dental services if they have enough money to do so. This is because we know that because of the currency issuing powers of our central government there is absolutely no good reason - and many very good reasons - why Australia should lead the world again in our provision of health and dental services to the owners of our Common Wealth. The truth is that the social and economic cost associated with providing free health and dental services for all Australians far outweighs any other ideologically driven considerations.
The RepresentUs - Australia - Movement will make sure that our Common Wealth central government will again provide all Australians with:
Health services that will be free for all permanent residents and citizens including dental, mental, psychological and emotional health care
A detailed review of all public funding of private health care institutions to clearly determine their public benefit
A detailed review of all public subsidies of private health insurance to clearly determine their public benefit
Health services will be patient centric
A starting point for all health interventions that will be focused on the mental, emotional, psychological and physiological well-being of the individual. Therefore, avoiding the unnecessary stresses associated with unwarranted and unwanted institutionalisation of individual patients
Any health intervention commences with the individual - their living circumstances, their family, relevant community contexts and stakeholders - in the first instance
Only after all patient centric options have been exhausted in the treatment of any individual patient should an institutionalised health intervention be considered
Drug addiction will be treated as a health problem not a criminal issue
